1989 San Francisco Giants Replay

After a couple of successful APBA tournaments, it was time to try something different. The third baseball project was a little more complex and took longer than the first two, as there were more total games in this one than the first two combined. I took the 1989 San Francisco Giants and did a full season replay. As best I could (as much as the APBA cards allowed), I used actual starting lineups for each game (unless a player was uncarded). I used actual substitutions when it made sense, but managed the bullpens as each game dictated.

Why the 1989 Giants? I got to see my favorite team in person multiple times during a highly successful season when I was in high school. I got to see them play in Arizona for spring training, in the regular season and in the postseason. I attended Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, a 5-4 win for the Giants over the Cubs. And then I went to Game 4 of the earthquake-postponed World Series, which unfortunately was the final game as the Athletics finished off the series sweep.

This was played with the APBA basic cards-and-dice game from March through June 2023.
