It was time to bring a new sport to the table. I had been looking for the right football game and I finally found it in Al Wilson’s Fast Drive Football.
I like football, but not having played it myself, I don’t love it like some of the other sports I’ve been rolling. So as I was looking at football games, I really wasn’t interested in one that was deeply intricate, where I’d have to figure out what sort of offensive sets and defensive plays to run and how they would match up with each other, and rotate players in and out. It seems like a lot of full-play football games could go for hours, and that doesn’t appeal to me. I also much prefer college football to the NFL, and a lot of games seem to be pro-based.
But then I found Fast Drive Football, a fairly quick-play drive-by-drive game that is based on the Plaay Games style (and FDF is in partnership with Plaay). I am planning on doing a lot more with Plaay in the future because I am really enjoying their products and gameplay.
So, first up with Fast Drive Football was the 2022 College Football Playoffs “What If”. I ran a playoff as it would have happened had the field already expanded to 12 teams, as it will for the 2024 season. The bracket was based on what it would actually have been given the CFP rankings at the time.
With just 11 games to play, this project was quick, taking less a week in December 2023.
Top-ranked Georgia had no problem winning another national championship, averaging 49.0 points with an average margin of victory of +34.0.
