Dave Winfield hit a pair of two-run home runs and Ron Guidry threw a two-hit shutout in the Yankees’ win. Winfield’s blasts came in the first and seventh innings. Willie Randolph had an RBI single in the fifth inning for the other run. Guidry walked two and struck out four, and only allowed one runner to reach second base. Dave Stieb gave up six hits and five runs in a complete-game loss.
