Jack Clark hit a three-run homer in the fifth inning to erase a 1-0 deficit as the Giants advanced. San Francisco picked up its fourth run in the seventh inning on back-to-back doubles by Darrell Evans and Jeffrey Leonard. New York’s first run came on a solo homer by Hubie Brooks in the fifth, and their second came in the sixth inning when Frank Tavares singled, stole second and third and scored on an error. The Giants’ Doyle Alexander gave up just one earned run and five hits in eight innings, while Greg Minton pitched the ninth for the save. Mike Scott took the loss for the Mets.
