GAME #13 (winners’ bracket second round):
Three of Baltimore’s four hits on the day were home runs and led to all five runs. Eddie Murray and Lenn Sakata hit two-run blasts in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, and Doug DeCinces added a solo shot in the seventh inning. The Orioles’ Dennis Martinez was one out away from a one-hit shutout, but Harold Baines singled and Greg Luzinski followed with a home run to account for the final score. Martinez ended up with a line of three hits, two walks and two runs in 8 2/3 innings. Steve Trout gave up four runs in six innings to take the loss.
