GAME #23 (losers’ bracket):
Bobby Bonds hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 12th inning to eliminate the Yankees. New York advanced to the World Series in real life in 1981, but went 1-2 in this simulation. The Yankees took an early 3-0 lead as Dave Winfield hit a two-run homer in the first and Rick Cerone had an RBI single in the fourth. But, New York would only manage two more hits for the rest of the game. Chicago got a two-run single by Jerry Morales in the bottom of the fourth. Steve Henderson led off the bottom of the ninth with a double, and after being advanced to third, Jody Davis tied the game with a sacrifice fly. Dick Tidrow threw three innings of scoreless relief to get the win.
