GAME #28 (winners’ bracket quarterfinals):
Ken Singleton blasted two home runs and drove in four runs to lead the Orioles to the victory. He had a two-run homer in the top of the first, then had an RBI single in the third. Eddie Murray followed with a RBI double to make it 4-2 in Baltimore’s favor. Texas’ Billy Sample homered in the fourth inning to cut the lead to one, and it stayed that way for several innings. The Rangers had the bases loaded with one out in the sixth but hit into an inning-ending double play. Singleton homered again when leading off the eighth inning for some breathing room, and the Orioles scored twice in the ninth with Rich Dauer collecting an RBI single.
