I did see the Waves win once in Provo. But it wasn’t this year, either in reality or in the simulations. Pepperdine lost by 11 in real life, and got blown out in two sims while keeping it close in one. The Cougars’ Chase Fischer was unstoppable, scoring 30, 16 and 20.
Real: [L] BYU 88, Pepperdine 77 — 7-4
CB2K: [L] BYU 84, Pepperdine 57 — 6-5
APC: [L] BYU 99, Pepperdine 94 — 8-3
CCB: [L] BYU 74, Pepperdine 59 — 6-5
The CB2K cards-and-dice game was miserable, as BYU jumped out to a 23-4 lead. The Waves came back with a 12-0 run to get within seven, but the lead quickly went back into double-digits for the rest of the game.
The Action! PC game was the closest, and the highest scoring, of the three. Pepperdine led 56-53 early in the second half but a 10-1 Cougar run gave them the lead for good. Somehow BYU survived three key players fouling out and 64% shooting by Pepperdine in the second half.
The Courtside College Basketball computer game was the most painful. Pepperdine led for the first 30ish minutes. The Waves led by 12 in the first half, took a five-point lead at the break, and pushed it back up to 12 about midway through the second half. And then the Waves stopped making baskets, and the Cougars made everything, and a 12-point lead turned into a 15-point loss in a matter of minutes.
