After extending the winning streak to seven with another shutout in the opener, the Giants had a painful end to the series as the Braves scored in the later innings to win each of the next three games.

April 15: Kevin Mitchell was thrown out at the plate in a scoreless game in the fifth inning, the only time the Giants made it to third base. Atlanta got a go-ahead two-run homer from Lonnie Smith in the seventh inning, and Ron Gant added a solo shot in the eighth.

April 16 (1): The Giants led 6-2 after four innings and 7-5 after six innings but couldn’t hold on in the first game of a doubleheader. Lonnie Smith, who led off the game with a home run, had a three-RBI double in the eighth inning to put Atlanta ahead.
