In real life, the Pilots went into Firestone Fieldhouse and earned a season sweep of the Waves. They accomplished that in the CB2K game as well, matching the three-point win. Pepperdine won the two computer games by one mid-sized margin and one blowout. The WCC season is now two-thirds complete and the Waves’ record is better in one sim, the same in one and behind in one.
Real: [L] Portland 73, Pepperdine 70 — 7-5
CB2K: [L] Portland 80, Pepperdine 77 (OT) — 6-6
APC: [W] Pepperdine 91, Portland 84 — 9-3
CCB: [W] Pepperdine 85, Portland 59 — 7-5
The three-point losses weren’t the only similarities between the CB2K game and reality. In the real game, Lamond Murray Jr. had a three-point attempt to tie the game at the buzzer, but it was blocked. Murray missed a potential tying three-pointer at the end of overtime in the cards-and-dice game. Shawn Olden actually did hit a three at the regulation buzzer to send it to OT. Jett Raines had a career-high 27 points in real life and had a team-high 22 in this simulation. Pepperdine led 77-74 in OT but the Pilots scored the final six points.
The Waves jumped out to a 14-1 lead in the Action! PC computer sim, though Portland tied it at 32. The Pilots led 61-57 with 13 minutes left, and at 80-79 with 5 1/2 to go. Pepperdine closed out the game on a 12-4 run.
The Courtside College Basketball sim was all Pepperdine, as the Waves led by as many as 30 before taking a 26-point victory that was never in doubt.
