2/18/2016 San Francisco at Pepperdine

The Waves suffered a disappointing home loss to the Dons in real life (albeit with a historic moment as Stacy Davis broke the school career scoring record, which had stood for 33 years). The simulations broke Pepperdine’s way in two of the three contests. With two games remaining, the Waves are assured of a better record in one of the sims, while they’ve matched the pace in one and are one game behind in another.

Real: [L] San Francisco 82, Pepperdine 72 — 9-7
CB2K: [W] Pepperdine 72, San Francisco 59 — 8-8
APC: [L] San Francisco 77, Pepperdine 70 — 11-5
CCB: [W] Pepperdine 63, San Francisco 51 — 9-7

The Dons took an eight-point halftime lead at 31-23 in the CB2K cards-and-dice game. But the Waves began the second half on an 11-0 run to take the lead. At 52-49, the Waves went on a 7-0 run to go up by 10, and they cruised from there. Pepperdine’s scoring output matched its real life effort (72), but the defense was 23 points better.

Pepperdine led the Action! PC game 52-45 with 13 minutes to go and 64-59 with seven minutes left, but USF kept coming back. Pepperdine’s last lead (and field goal) came at 68-67 with 3:58 left. The Dons scored the next 10 points. Another game where the Waves’ offense (70 points) nearly matched real life.

Courtside College Basketball put up another defensive battle, which the Waves won by 12. The teams combined to make one of 23 three-pointers, and USF was held to 30.4% shooting. The Waves led comfortably throughout this game.
