May 31: Scott Garrelts got the Giants back in the win column as he gave up four hits and one run in eight innings to improve to 10-1 on the season. The Giants’ runs all came in the third inning, which included an RBI sacrifice by Greg Litton and a two-run homer for Will Clark. New York was held to a solo home run by Howard Johnson in the sixth inning.
