June 28: Robby Thompson broke open a scoreless game by leading off the sixth inning with a solo home run. Will Clark drove in the Giants’ second run with a single in the eighth inning. Don Robinson was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the top of the ninth despite throwing a one-hit shutout at the time. The decision was almost disastrous, as the Astros scored once and put the tying run on second base before Goose Gossage for the final out.
