August 11 — A day after blowing a 7-0 lead in the finale against Cincinnati, the Giants overcame a 4-0 deficit for the win. Robby Thompson broke up the shutout in the sixth inning with a two-run triple, and Will Clark followed with a home run to tie the game. Then, in the eighth, the Giants got a two-run triple from Jose Uribe, a bases-loaded walk to Robby Thompson and a two-RBI single by Clark.

August 12 — The Giants had all kinds of chances against Fernando Valenzuela, but failed on every one of them, and left 15 runners on base. They left the bases loaded three times and runners on second base three more times. Rick Dempsey had a two-RBI single in the fourth inning to plate both Dodger runs.
