9/11-12/1989 Atlanta at San Francisco

The Giants and Braves split a two-game series at Candlestick Park, just as they did in real life, though the results were flipped. After 145 games, the Giants are still 14 wins ahead of pace, and three victories away from the century mark.

September 11 — Scott Garrelts had a rare bad start, giving up four runs and eight hits in eight innings, including home runs to the Braves’ Jeff Treadway and Tommy Gregg. After Atlanta went up 1-0 in the top of the first, the Giants scored their only run in the bottom half of the frame on a Will Clark RBI single. But Treadway hit a two-run shot in the third, and Gregg added a solo blast in the sixth.
