In the seventh, San Francisco went ahead after an RBI single by Kevin Mitchell and a two-run double by Terry Kennedy. The Astros got one back in the bottom of the seventh, and brought the winning run to the plate in the ninth, but Craig Lefferts struck out the final two hitters.
