September 19 — An amazing pitchers’ duel for nine innings was followed by some bonkers extra innings. Both teams failed to score in the first nine innings. with Orel Hershiser allowing just one hit and Mike LaCoss repeatedly pitching out of trouble. But this one was decided by the closers. The Dodgers went up 1-0 in the top of the 10th on back-to-back doubles by Mike Marshall and Jeff Hamilton. The Giants tied it on their second hit of the game, a solo homer by Terry Kennedy. In the top of the 11th, Los Angeles went back in front on a Mike Scioscia solo home run. But in the bottom of the 10th, after a couple of walks, Will Clark hit a deep ball off the wall that scored both runners for the walk-off win.
