USC’s come-from-behind win over rival UCLA clinched at least a share of the championship for the Trojans, as they now lead both the Bruins and Arizona State by three games with three to play. It was the 10th straight victory for the Trojans. The other seven teams all have losing records, but are also all within two games of each other in the win-loss column.

Arizona State 5, Stanford 1: The Sun Devils kept their slim championship hopes alive thanks to a strong pitching performance from Larry Gura (seven innings, five hits, one run). Reggie Jackson had an RBI single in the first inning and Rick Monday and Oddibe McDowell both homered in a four-run fourth inning that made it 5-0. Jeffrey Hammonds’ solo homer in the fifth was all the Cardinal got.
