The Earthquakes went undefeated in June, just as they did in real life. In Soccer Blast they went a perfect 4-0-0 and outscored opponents 9-1. In real life, it was 3-0-1 by a 7-2 margin. The final scores were all very close to actual results, with one being spot on and the other three being just one goal off. Ronald Cerritos scored four goals, including a hat trick in the month’s finale, while Landon Donovan had three. San Jose is now 9-3-2 just past the season’s midway point, a little better than the 8-2-4 that the actual Earthquakes did through 14 games.

The Earthquakes avenged their earlier 4-1 loss to the MetroStars by earning a win on the road. Their effort was aided by an 11th-minute red card to the MetroStars’ Mike Petke. That allowed San Jose to take control and take 22 shots, putting 11 of them on frame, but only one made it past Tim Howard. Dwayne DeRosario had two shots saved, but Manny Lagos followed with a goal early in the second half.
