First, to set the stage, five of the eight actual quarterfinalists made it to this point in the replay. And, we ended up with two real-life quarterfinal matchups with Netherlands vs. Argentina and England vs. France. Brazil was the fifth team to also make it here.
The quarterfinal results weren’t nearly as dramatic as the Round of 16, though three of the contests were decided by one goal, and Netherlands continued its dominant run by routing Argentina. We’ve ended up with a couple of outstanding matchups in the semifinals.
