It was a game for the history books, as the French prevailed 4-3 in overtime. Kylian Mbappe had a hat trick, which included the game-winner in OT. He wrapped up the Golden Boot with his performance. France led 2-0 and 3-1 before the Netherlands rallied late, but Mbappe found the net with five minutes before the contest would have gone to penalties.
Entering the final, Netherlands had steamrolled the competition, going 6-0 with 20 goals scored and only one allowed. But they couldn’t keep the powerful French off the board here. France had gone 5-0-1 prior to this game, scoring 14 goals with five allowed.
Netherlands’ Memphis Depay was the leading scorer heading into the final with seven goals, but didn’t add to his total in the final and settled for the Silver Boot. Mbappe caught and passed him, recording nine goals in all. Lionel Messi took home the Bronze Boot with six goals.

France scored right before halftime and right after the break to go up 2-0. Mbappe’s second goal made it 3-1, but Netherlands responded immediately, then added the tying goal in the 84th minute. Mbappe hit the game-winner in the 115th minute.
