4/14-16/1989 Oakland at Chicago

The A’s broke out of their seven-game losing streak with a three-game sweep at Chicago. This came not long after the White Sox swept a series in Oakland. It was highlighted by a Bob Welch near-perfect game in the middle contest. Glenn Hubbard and Dave Parker hit big home runs in the other games. The A’s picked up a game and are now three behind the pace after 13 contests.

But, the White Sox came back with a three-run homer by Ron Karkovice in the bottom half of the frame. It stayed that way until the sixth, when Glenn Hubbard smashed a three-RBI home run to put Oakland up. Dave Parker added an RBI single in the ninth. Chicago didn’t advance a runner past first base the final seven innings.
