5/23-25/1989 Oakland at Milwaukee

The A’s won another series, picked up a game, and were over .500 for a moment, but missed a chance for a sweep by losing the finale of a three-game set against the Brewers. The A’s were 23-22 before the last game, their first time with a winning record since starting 2-1. After 46 games, Oakland is now seven wins behind pace.

May 23: Stan Javier launched a three-run homer in the top of the second inning, and that was all the A’s would need, and all they would get. Bob Welch didn’t give up a hit for the first five innings, but Charlie O’Brien doubled and Paul Molitor singled him home to get the Brewers on the board in the sixth. That was it, however, as both teams managed only four hits.
