June 10: The A’s got on the board first when Mark McGwire led off the second inning with a single and later scored on a bases-loaded walk. That was it for Oakland, however. Texas only managed three hits, but two of them were back-to-back homers by Steve Buechele and Chad Kreuter in the fifth inning, and that was enough for the win.

A two-run single by Stan Javier and an RBI single by Mike Gallego put the A’s up to stay in the sixth inning. At 4-2, Oakland put the game out of reach in the seventh inning with an RBI double by Mark McGwire and a run-scoring single by Terry Steinbach.
