The Geneva stop resulted in a pair of first-time winners. It took a while, but Rafael Nadal finally broke through for his first victory. Five of the six sets that he won came in tiebreakers, including both straight-set victories in the semifinals and final. There was mayhem on the women’s side, as Billie Jean King didn’t make it to the quarterfinals, and all four underdogs won in the quarters. The end result was Iga Swiatek making it to the podium for the first time.
