After being as many as nine games behind pace, the replay A’s finally pulled even with the 1989 squad on July 14, and even moved a game ahead of pace on July 15 after an extra-innings win. But, the Blue Jays salvaged a win in the finale of the four-game series as John Cerutti no-hit the A’s.
After being injured for the first half of the season, Jose Canseco finally made his debut. It wasn’t good, as he was just 2-for-17 (.118) at the plate, but one of those hits was the game-winning homer in the 14th inning of the third contest.
After 92 games, the A’s have the same record as the actual squad.

July 13: The A’s jumped on top thanks to a Dave Henderson RBI single in the first, and then Rickey Henderson hit a solo homer and Mark McGwire knocked a two-run shot in the third. The Blue Jays closed to 4-2, though Henderson added a second RBI single in the seventh inning.

July 15: Oakland went up 2-0 in the second inning as Tony Phillips homered and Carney Lansford drove in a run with a single. Toronto tied it at two, but the A’s went back ahead 4-2 in the fourth on a two-RBI triple by Dave Henderson. Oakland’s bullpen faltered, however, and Dennis Eckersley blew a save when Fred McGriff led off the bottom of the ninth with a game-tying homer. After going nine innings without a run, Jose Canseco hit a two-run homer for the A’s in the 14th inning.

July 16: John Cerutti threw an against-the-odds no-hitter. The A’s managed three walks and got another runner on base on an error, but no one got past first base. Mike Moore had his worst start of the season and gave up a two-run homer to George Bell in the first inning and RBI hits to Tony Fernandez and Bell in the sixth inning.
