July 30: Seattle went up early on Alvin Davis’ RBI double in the first inning. It stayed that way until the seventh when Tony Phillips tied it with an RBI single and Mike Gallego put Oakland in front with a sacrifice fly. But, Oakland’s bullpen blew another save as Seattle tied it up in the eighth on Jeffrey Leonard’s RBI single. Alvin Davis doubled to lead off the top of the 11th and Leonard singled him home, and the A’s went quietly in the bottom half of the inning.
