All-Time Tennis: Indian Wells

In the first event of the North American hard-court tour, Jimmy Connors and Kim Clijsters were victorious. Connors and Novak Djokovic were the top two seeds on the men’s side and Connors pulled out a three-set win in the final. Connors became the third men’s player to win five tournaments. The women’s event saw a bevy of upsets: Chris Evert and Monica Seles didn’t make the quarterfinals, while Steffi Graf, Billie Jean King and Justine Henin were upended in the quarters. Clijsters took advantage as the only seeded player remaining and she won her third tournament.

Connors defeated Agassi 4-6, 6-3, 6-3
Djokovic defeated Laver 6-3, 7-5

Final:
Connors defeated Djokovic 6-3, 5-7, 7-6

Women’s Tournament
