The A’s were on the verge of a much-needed sweep, winning the first two home games against the Yankees and taking an early 3-0 lead in the finale. But Oakland’s pitching fell apart and New York salvaged the last game. So once again, the A’s won two of three, just as they did in real life. After 143 games, Oakland remains three wins behind pace.
