Roger Federer and Margaret Court both won their third tournaments of the season as the hard-court season went north of the border to Toronto. Federer, the top seed, had the fortune of not facing any other seeded players after a number of upsets. Court, the fourth seed, beat the second seed, Lindsay Davenport in the final. Both Federer and Court only dropped one set in their three matches.
