The Waves didn’t have to go far for their second tournament of the History Maker Golf campaign, as famed Riviera County Club is located less than 15 miles east of the Malibu campus in Pacific Palisades. It’s not a normal college stop, but Sahith Theegala made the cut there in the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open in 2017 while he was still in college, and Josh Anderson tied for 37th at the 2012 NCAA Championships.
The par-71 course is playing tougher than the first event at Sherwood Country Club, but Derek Hitchner (7-under 64), Theegala (5-under 66) and William Mouw (4-under 67) all got off to terrific starts.
