GTOP S1W8: Recap

Four teams remain alive heading into the final week of the season, thanks to the 1911 Athletics taking three of four from the league-leading 1912 Giants. New York has a two-game lead, but they’ll wrap up the season against one of the two teams tied for second place in the 1917 White Sox. The 1911 Athletics, tied for second, face the 1909 Tigers, who are in fourth. Detroit has only one path to the title: sweep the Athletics and have Chicago take three of four, which would create a three-way tie. Philadelphia must win its series against Detroit (and probably sweep) and needs Chicago to win at least two against New York.

Also worth keeping an eye on: Ty Cobb is hitting .400 exactly (44-for-110). Can he keep up that legendary pace? Or, if Cobb has an off week, can Shoeless Joe Jackson (.378) overtake him for the batting crown?
