Pepp Golf: Round 1 at LACC

The third tournament of the History Maker Golf tour headed to the Los Angeles County Club, host of the 2023 U.S. Open and an occasional practice site for the Waves. Clay Feagler had a brilliant first round, shooting a 6-under 64 to take a four-shot lead. Only five of the Waves finished below-par on a daunting course.

  • Feagler had a total of nine birdies and survived a double-bogey on the par-3 fourth hole. After posting a bogey on 11, he ran off four straight birdies from 12-15, then finished with three pars.
  • Putnam had the most up-and-down round of any en route to a 2-under 68, good for second place. He recorded a pair of double-bogeys, but also had an eagle on the par-4 10th hole and finished his round with three straight birdies.
  • The back nine wasn’t kind to the season’s first two champions. Theegala birdied the first three holes and was in the lead at the turn at 4-under, but wound up with an even-par 70. Manke was 2-under at the turn but also ended up with an even-par 70.
