The 1925 Washington Senators won the first three games of the series, but a late comeback by the 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates in game four allowed them to avoid the sweep as week number two came to a close. Joe Judge hit .462 (6-for-13) to lead the Senators (5-3), while Paul Waner batted .357 (5-for-14) for the Pirates (1-3).

Game #1: Washington 5, Pittsburgh 1

After four scoreless innings, the Pirates handed the Senators the lead by committing four errors in the fifth and sixth innings, leading to two Washington runs. The Pirates got a run back in the seventh, albeit on a double play. But Washington put the game away with Roger Peckinpaugh’s RBI single in the eighth and Joe Judge’s two-run homer in the ninth. Stan Coveleski gave up six hits in the complete-game win.
