GTOP S2W7: Recap

Not much changed atop the standings after week 7, as the top four teams played each other and all won two and lost two. The only wrinkle came via the 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates, which won three of four to climb into fourth place on winning percentage. With only two weeks left — eight games remaining for some, four for others — five teams are alive, though some just barely.

  • The 1920 Cleveland Indians, with a one-game lead, play the fourth-place Pirates next and then finish up with the sixth-place Giants.
  • The 1927 New York Yankees, one game behind, have the week 8 bye and then will finish up with the sixth-place Senators.
  • The 1929 Chicago Cubs, two games behind, face the fifth-place Cardinals and the fourth-place Pirates.
  • The 1927 Pittsburgh Pirates, three games behind, have the toughest schedule remaining with the first-place Indians and the third-place Cubs.
  • The 1930 St. Louis Cardinals, three games behind, finish their season this week against the third-place Cubs. They have the bye in week 9.
