Pepp Golf: Round 3 at Conway Farms

Five tournaments are complete with five different winners, as Joe Highsmith went wire-to-wire to claim the title at Conway Farms Golf Club.

Highsmith shot an 18-under 195 to win by three strokes. He entered the final round with a two-shot lead. He started conservatively, with six straight pars. His closest competitors, William Mouw and Joshua McCarthy, made some mistakes pushing for a comeback and were 2-over at the same time.

All three golfers heated up from there. Over the final 12 holes, McCarthy had eight birdies, Mouw had an eagle and four birdies, and Highsmith had six birdies. It got a little interesting on the 15th hole, when Highsmith had his only bogey of the round and Mouw and McCarthy both birdied to pull within two and three shots, respectively. But all three players had par on the 16th, and Highsmith birdied 17 and 18 to win decisively.

At the halfway point in the season, Highsmith climbed into the #1 spot in total scoring average (67.60). He’s the only golfer to finish in the top five in all five events.
