USC 4, Arizona 3 (10 inn.)
Eric Munson gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead in the third with a home run. The Wildcats tied it on Jack Howell’s solo homer in the fourth and went ahead 2-1 in the fifth on Terry Francona’s RBI single. Another solo shot for USC, this one by Jacque Jones, tied it in the eighth. The game went to extra innings, and the Trojans’ Mark McGwire had a two-run blast in the top of the 10th. Arizona got one back in the bottom of the 10th on Kenny Lofton’s homer, and the Wildcats then got the potential tying run to second base, but no further.
