GTOP S3W4: Recap

The season has reached the halfway point for a majority of the teams. There’s a pile-up in the middle with four teams at .500. The 1935 Chicago Cubs and the 1937 New York Yankees continue to be the most successful.

Can anyone stop Frank Demaree of the 1935 Chicago Cubs? He raised his season average to .469 after batting .533 (8-for-15) against the 1931 Philadelphia Athletics. The Cubs took three of four from the Athletics, but they’ll be facing another top-three team in week 5 with the 1940 Cincinnati Reds.

Pitching continues to be very, very good. Only one pitcher in all of Season 2 had two shutouts. Five already have a pair of shutouts here. Dave Ferriss of the 1946 Boston Red Sox is the only pitcher who is 4-0 after four starts, but Rube Walberg of the 1931 Athletics and Curt Davis of the 1941 Dodgers can join him, as they are both 3-0 after three starts.
