Pepp Golf: Round 1 at Augusta National

Augusta National will be a tough test for the 10th and final tournament of the regular season, but a few Waves got off to good starts, most notably Clay Feagler with a 4-under 68 and Joe Highsmith with a 3-under 69.

Only two other Waves finished below-par on the day, as Johnny Mac Arthur and William Mouw had 2-under 70s.

  • Feagler was at even-par after 11 holes, but had birdies on four of the next five. He had six birdies in his round.
  • Highsmith had the only eagle on the day, and it came on the par-4 ninth hole. He had five birdies, three coming on the final four holes.
  • Given the difficulty of the course, this was Mac Arthur’s best round of the season. He had four birdies and zero bogeys through 16 holes but unfortunately went bogey-bogey on the final two.
  • Mouw had a very clean round with three birdies and just one bogey.
  • Manke had a remarkable start with 15 straight pars. He birdied 16 to end that streak, but also bogeyed 18 to fall back to even-par.
  • The average score on the par-72 course was 73.9.
