The 1941 Brooklyn Dodgers took three of four games from the 1946 Boston Red Sox, meaning that at this point in time the Dodgers (15-9) have moved into a tie for first place with the 1935 Chicago Cubs and 1937 New York Yankees. All three have eight games remaining.
Pete Reiser hit .500 (8-for-16), Dolph Camilli batted .471 (8-for-17) with two home runs and Joe Medwick drove in 11 runs (six in the finale on two home runs) for the Dodgers. Curt Davis became the only pitcher in the league to 6-0 after six starts, and Whit Wyatt won his fifth game.
Boston (11-13) saw Rudy York hit .500 (7-for-14), while Ted Williams batted .438 (7-for-16) with two home runs.
Game #1: Brooklyn 8, Boston 7
The Dodgers went up 3-0, then fell behind 6-3 as Ted Williams and George Metkovich hit two-run homers for the Red Sox. In the top of the ninth, Brooklyn scored four times, with back-to-back RBI singles from Pete Reiser and Joe Medwick, and then a two-run homer from Dolph Camilli. The Red Sox got one run back and had the tying run on third base with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t bring him home.

Game #2: Brooklyn 6, Boston 2
Curt Davis didn’t have his best stuff, but it was enough for the win as he improved to 6-0 on the season. The Dodgers scored twice in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Joe Medwick and RBI single from Dolph Camilli to break open a 2-2 tie. Mickey Owen added a two-run double in the eighth inning. Camilli homered for the second straight game.

Game #4: Brooklyn 7, Boston 1
Boston’s Dave Ferriss was looking to match Curt Davis with a 6-0 record after six starts, but he unfortunately was hit by a line drive in the fourth inning and had to exit the game. He didn’t factor into the decision, as the game scored scoreless until the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh, the first four Dodgers recorded hits, with Pete Reiser providing an RBI single for the game’s first run and Joe Medwick following with a three-run home run. One inning later, Medwick hit another three-run homer. Whit Wyatt improved to 5-1 with the victory.
