In real life, the Sacramento Kings started the 2022-23 season 0-4. Here on the tabletop, they’ve flipped everything and started 4-0 after a 137-118 home victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. Harrison Barnes led the way with team highs of 27 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
It was a fairly close game throughout but the Kings ended the contest on a 16-2 run to turn it into a blowout.
Barnes was one of four Kings to score 22 or more points. De’Aaron Fox had 26, Domantas Sabonis had 25 and Malik Monk had 22. Sacramento shot 60.2% from the field and scored at least 30 points in every quarter.
Desmond Bane had a game-high 30 points to lead the Grizzlies, who shot 52.7%. Ja Morant added 21.

There were 13 lead changes and seven ties in a very tight first quarter. Memphis took a 32-31 lead at the break.
After another seven lead changes, the Kings finally got some distance with an 8-0 run that made it 47-41. They took their first double-digit lead at 58-48 on a Keegan Murray three-pointer. But, Memphis scored the final nine points of the half to cut Sacramento’s lead to 61-59.
Memphis scored the first four points of the third quarter to regain the lead at 63-61. The Kings responded immediately with a 12-0 run, six points coming from Sabonis, to make it another 10-point Sacramento lead at 73-63. Memphis closed the gap to three points a couple of times, but a 9-0 Sacramento run late in the quarter was capped off by a Monk three-pointer, making it 99-84. It was 101-92 at the end of the third period, with the Kings scoring 40 points.
Memphis chipped away in the fourth quarter, and made it a two-point game at 107-105 with eight minutes left. A big play occurred with just over six minutes left when the Kings doubled a four-point lead on a four-point play by Barnes. A three-pointer by Bane cut Sacramento’s lead to 121-116 with less than three minutes to go. But Sacramento scored 16 of the final 18 points, with a pair of three-pointers by Murray, to win easily.
