10/29/22: Sacramento 123, Miami 105

After Sacramento opened the replay with four wins (in four games they all lost in reality), perhaps the Kings would lose the first game they actually won? Nope, the Kings rolled to a 123-105 home victory over the Miami Heat to improve to 5-0.

De’Aaron Fox continued his hot start with game highs of 32 points and nine assists. Fox, who had 23 points in the first half, is averaging 27.0 points and 6.4 assists so far. Kevin Huerter added 22 points and six Kings in all scored in double-figures. Domantas Sabonis had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sacramento outshot Miami 56.3% to 46.3%.

Jimmy Butler scored 28 for Miami, but he shot poorly from the field (8-for-23) while perfect at the line (12-for-12). Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro scored 20 points each.

Miami scored the first four points but the Heat’s last lead of the game came at 7-6. An 15-2 run put the Kings up by 10 at 19-9 seven minutes into the game. They led by as many as 11 in the first quarter and it was 34-27 at the break.

Miami got the deficit down to three points on three occasions early in the second quarter. The Kings gradually added to their lead, however. Five straight points by Fox made it a 12-point game at 61-49 with four minutes left. That began a 15-4 run that saw the Kings take a 71-53 lead. It was 71-55 at halftime.

The Kings’ largest lead of the game in the third quarter when they went up by 22 points on four occasions. It first happened at 81-59 after a Fox three-pointer. The last one came at 90-68 after a basket by Harrison Barnes. The lead stayed around 20 points for the bulk of the quarter. It was 93-75 heading into the final period.

Once again, the Kings kept a lead between 15-20 points for the entirety of the rest of the game.
