11/11/22: LA Lakers 113, Sacramento 108

After starting the replay 5-0, the Sacramento Kings are in free fall, as they lost for the fifth time in six games with a 113-108 road loss to a Los Angeles Lakers team without LeBron James.

The Kings are 6-5 and are still one game better than their real-life 11-game record. With four straight home games coming up, perhaps they’ll get things back on track.

Keegan Murray led the Kings in scoring for the first time this season with 19 points. Harrison Barnes and De’Aaron Fox both had 18 points.

The Lakers got big games off the bench from Russell Westbrook (26 points) and Austin Reeves (18 points), plus a 22-point, 10-rebound effort from Anthony Davis and 24 points by Lonnie Walker IV.

The Lakers outshot the Kings 53.4% to 47.3%.

The biggest lead of the first quarter for either team was four points. Barnes (14 points) and Walker (11 points) had big starts for both teams. It was 32-30 Sacramento after the first period.

An 11-2 Sacramento run gave the Kings their largest lead of the game at 10 points, 48-38, midway through the second quarter. The Lakers came back to tie the contest at 53, and the Kings led 57-56 at halftime.

The third quarter remained close. LA led by five at 64-59, while Sacramento led by four at 74-70. The Lakers took an 81-80 lead into the fourth quarter.

Davis had four points in a 6-0 Laker run that saw Los Angeles go up 92-86 with under 10 minutes to play. The Kings then scored six straight to tie it at 92. Then it was the Lakers’ turn, as they went on an 8-0 run to go up 100-92 with under six minutes to go. Fox hit a three-pointer to get the Kings within two at 104-102, but Walker came back with a three-pointer for the Lakers, and the Kings couldn’t make another run in the final minutes.
