11/17/22: Sacramento 128, San Antonio 107

Locked in a close game for more than 40 minutes, the Sacramento Kings finally pulled away at the end to claim a 128-107 home victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

The Kings had a balanced attack, with seven players scoring in double-figures and two more finishing with eight points. Malik Monk had a team-high 21 off the bench. De’Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter both scored 17. Davion Mitchell had season highs of 13 points and eight assists.

Devin Vassell scored 36 to lead the Spurs.

The Kings won their third in a row, all at home, to improve to 9-5 (one game better than real life at this point).

The Kings broke out to an 18-12 lead six minutes into the contest, but the Spurs turned things around and went up by seven at 31-24 late in the period. San Antonio took a 33-31 lead after the first quarter.

Both teams enjoyed as much as a six-point lead in the second quarter. The Kings went into halftime with a 61-58 lead.

The Spurs took their largest lead of the game of nine points at 82-73, and again at 87-78 with four minutes left in the third quarter. But the Kings scored the next nine points, the last four by Fox, to tie the game. San Antonio led by one, 91-90, going into the final period.

The Kings quickly took the lead in the fourth quarter and never gave it back up. Domantas Sabonis scored twice in a 7-0 run that gave the Kings the first double-digit lead of the game at 106-96 with under eight minutes to play. The Spurs got no closer than eight the rest of the way. The Kings took a double-digit lead for good when Kevin Huerter scored to make it 114-103. Sacramento ended the game on an 11-0 run to make the final margin bigger than it appeared.
