11/20/22: Sacramento 153, Detroit 128

A first-half explosion propelled the Sacramento Kings to an easy 153-128 victory over the Detroit Pistons, giving the Kings their fourth straight home win with their highest scoring output of the season.

Sacramento (10-5) scored 46 points in the first quarter and 40 more in the second quarter to claim an 86-56 lead at halftime.

Seven Kings scored in double-figures, led by De’Aaron Fox’s 33 points, Kevin Huerter’s 28 and Malik Monk’s 20. Keegan Murray had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Domantas Sabonis just missed a triple-double with 14 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Bojan Bogdanovic scored 34 to lead the Pistons, while Killian Hayes had 27 points and 10 assists.

The Pistons shot slightly better than the Kings (54.9% to 54.8%) but committed almost twice as many turnovers (13 to seven). Sacramento made 19 three-pointers, 16 in the first half. Detroit finished with 18, 13 of them coming in the second half.

Detroit led only twice in the game, at 8-6 and 11-9. After the second one, the Kings went on an 11-0 run and never trailed again. An 8-0 run later in the half made it a 17-point lead at 40-23. It was 46-30 at the end of the first quarter. Huerter hit five three-pointers and had 17 points in the first quarter.

The Kings quickly made it a 20-point lead early in the second quarter and they took their biggest lead of the game, 34 points, at 81-47 with under four minutes to go in the half. It was 86-56 at halftime.

The Kings took their foot off the gas in the third quarter, allowing the Pistons to put up a 42-point quarter and to shrink the 30-point deficit to just 13 at 104-91 with under six minutes to go. The Kings finished it off strong, however, getting the lead back up to 22 at 120-98 heading into the fourth.

The Kings attained a 30-point lead again at 133-130, and they led by at least 22 for the entirety of the quarter.
