1/9/23: Sacramento 112, Orlando 105

The Sacramento Kings held off the Orlando Magic’s fourth-quarter rally to win their third straight home game, 112-105.

The Kings (23-16) led by as many as 23 in the third quarter, and by 17 early in the fourth quarter, but the Magic made it a three-point game with under three minutes to play.

Domantas Sabonis led the Kings in points (26), rebounds (17) and assists (six). De’Aaron Fox scored 24 points.

Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 30 points.

There were 10 lead changes in the first period. The Kings had a good run at the end of the quarter to take a 30-23 lead.

Sacramento’s first double-digit lead came at 36-26 after a Malik Monk three-pointer. The Kings scored the final six points of the half to take a 60-44 lead at the break.

A 7-0 run near the start of the third quarter put Sacramento up by 23 at 69-46. Orlando got the lead down to 10 points at 81-71, but the Kings were up by 15 at the end of the quarter at 90-75.

Harrison Barnes scored the first basket of the fourth quarter to make it 92-75. It was still a 14-point game at 99-85 with under nine minutes to go. The Magic then went on a 14-3 run over the next six minutes to cut the deficit to three at 102-99. The Kings finally recovered, as Monk hit a three-pointer and Keegan Murray and Sabonis had baskets for a 7-0 run that got lead back up to 10 at 109-99 with a little more than a minute left.
