Back in the 1980s, I tuned into the WWF syndicated show every weekend. With our satellite dish, I sometimes got to see the cards at Madison Square Garden or Boston Garden. I stayed up late every Saturday night, usually watching Saturday Night Live, but always hopeful that it would be Saturday Night’s Main Event. I also attended a couple of non-televised live shows in that era. I’ve watched WWE (or WCW or AEW) on and off over the years.
I purchased one unnamed pro wrestling cards-and-dice game and gave it a try. I thought I was going to like it, but I just couldn’t get into it. Then I found a different one, and I think I’m going to like this one better. I’m now playing The Squared Circle, a different cards-and-dice game created by S.T. Patrick. He’s built incredibly detailed sets for several different territories and I’m starting with the one I grew up with: the WWF from 1985-90.
I’m going to use actual events — thanks to The History of WWE website — for guidance and setting up my own cards. When I feel it’s appropriate I might set up real-life matchups. Or, we’ll see how the dice change things and go from there.
