The Giants began the month of June with three games in Atlanta, and dominated the Braves in each contest. It was a little different than the first series of the season, when Atlanta won three of four games in San Francisco. Here, San Francisco pitchers tossed two shutouts, sandwiching a season-high 15 runs in the middle contest. After only winning two of three in real life, the Giants picked up a game and are now nine wins ahead of pace after 54 games.

June 2: Rick Reuschel fired a one-hit shutout to improve to 9-0 on the season. He retired the first 17 batters before Darrell Evans managed a pinch-hit single in the sixth inning. Reuschel retired the next nine batters and gave up his first walk with two out in the ninth before finishing off the Braves. Robby Thompson had an RBI double as part of a two-run third inning, and Will Clark had an RBI double, followed by a Kevin Mitchell RBI single, in the fifth.

June 3: En route to a season-high 15 runs, the Giants had four big innings. Among them were six runs in the second inning and five in the ninth. In the second inning, Kevin Mitchell hit a three-run homer (his 18th) and pitcher Don Robinson smacked a two-run shot (his sixth). Mitchell drove in four runs and Will Clark and Jose Uribe both had three RBI.

June 4: Mike LaCoss hurled a four-hit shutout. The only close call came in the sixth when an Atlanta runner was thrown out at the plate after trying to score from second on a base hit. Greg Litton went 3-for-4 and had a two-run double in the sixth inning and an RBI triple in the eighth.
