The San Francisco Giants split a four-game series at home against the Milwaukee Brewers, dropping them another game behind their real-life record. At 11-15, they’re now four games behind .500 and six games back of real life. The Giants suffered a horrific loss in the opener, posted a pair of come-from-behind wins in the next two, then saw their bats go quiet in the finale.
Mike Yastrzemski went 5-for-11 (.455) and Jung Hoo Lee went 6-for-16 (.375) to lead the Giants. Brice Turang went 7-for-17 (.412) for the Brewers.

April 21 (9-8 loss): The Giants led 3-0 after the first inning and 7-2 after two innings, but couldn’t pull off the win. The big hits were a two-run homer by Matt Chapman (his team-high sixth) in the first inning and a two-run triple by Willy Adames in the second. The Brewers made it 7-5 in the fourth on Brice Turang’s two-run double. The Giants added one more in the sixth on Mike Yastrzemski’s RBI double, making it 8-5. But the Brewers lit up reliever Hayden Birdsong for three home runs: Jackson Chourio with a solo shot in the seventh, Isaac Collins with a two-run blast in the eighth and Turang with a solo bomb in the eighth, giving Milwaukee the comeback win.

April 22 (4-3 win): The Giants got off to another good start, only to blow it once again. This time, however, they pulled off a come-from-behind victory. Jung Hoo Lee hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Jordan Hicks pitched a strong 5 1/3 innings to keep Milwaukee off the scoreboard. But the Brewers got to the Giants’ bullpen in the seventh, taking a 3-2 lead after an RBI single by Caleb Durbin and a two-run double by Brice Turang. This time, however, the Giants came back with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead. Willy Adames had an RBI single and Matt Chapman was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

April 23 (2-1 win): The Giants earned a walk-off victory with a late rally. Milwaukee scored first in this one, going ahead 1-0 in the second on Rhys Hoskins’ solo homer. But that was one of only four hits for the Brewers. Logan Webb had another good start but had a no-decision as the Giants didn’t score with him in the game. The Giants couldn’t score off Freddy Peralta but finally broke through against the bullpen in the bottom of the eighth. With two outs, Mike Yastrzemski, Willy Adames and Jung Hoo Lee had three consecutive singles, the last one scoring Yaz to tie the game. In the bottom of the ninth, Matt Chapman reached base on an error, was sacrificed to second base, and scored on Luis Matos’ walk-off RBI single. Tyler Rogers improved to 2-0 and hasn’t given up a run in 14 2/3 innings of work this season.

April 24 (4-1 loss): The Giants couldn’t do much offensively in the finale, getting just five hits and a single run against Tobias Myers and four Brewer relievers. Milwaukee went ahead with a three-run second inning, as Eric Haase had an RBI double and Sal Frelick hit a two-run homer. They made it 4-0 in the fourth as Frelick drove in another run with a single. The Giants’ only run came on a Luis Matos solo homer to lead off the fifth inning. Landen Roupp fell to 0-3 in five starts.
