1/21/23: Philadelphia 119, Sacramento 111

The Sacramento Kings had their second straight unimpressive performance, particularly in the first half, as they lost 119-111 at home to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Kings (27-18) trailed 63-45 at halftime. They were outshot 50.6% to 44.2% for the contest.

De’Aaron Fox had 24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Domantas Sabonis had a streak of 11 straight double-doubles end after he fouled out in the third quarter. Fellow big man Richaun Holmes joined him on the bench after committing six fouls in seven minutes. Chimezie Metu picked up some of the slack and had his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Tyrese Maxey scored a game-high 35 points to lead the 76ers.

There were six lead changes early, but a 9-0 Philadelphia run put the 76ers ahead 20-14 and they never trailed again. It was 33-22 at the end of the first quarter.

An 11-3 run got the Kings within four points at 37-33 early in the second quarter. Another 9-0 76ers run later on made it 52-37. They led 63-45 at the break after scoring the final seven points of the quarter. Maxey had 22 points at halftime.

The 76ers took their biggest lead of the game, 21 points, at 82-61. It was 90-75 heading into the final period.

The Kings made it a single-digit game at 103-94 with under six minutes to play. But they’d get no closer than six at 114-108 with less than two minutes left.
